FAQ

🏁 Race Rules & Format?

Q: How is the winner determined?
A: Simple: the first rider to reach the finish line in Oslo wins. Your time is tracked based on total elapsed time — from the official start in Copenhagen to your arrival in Oslo — including all stops, rest, and repairs.

Q: Are we tracked?
A: Yes, we track all riders via GPS (provided by trackers from FollowMyChallenge.com). Riders must follow the official route to be ranked.

Q: Do I have to follow traffic laws?
A: Absolutely. All riders must obey local traffic laws in both Denmark and Sweden/Norway. That includes stopping at red lights, using lights after dark, and riding safely and respectfully. Breaking traffic rules can lead to disqualification — safety always comes first.

Q: Is drafting allowed while racing?
A: Yes. Drafting is allowed, and you’re welcome to ride with others — it’s part of what makes the event social and dynamic.

Q: Is there a time limit?
A: Yes. The maximum allowed time for both 2026 races is 110 hours, including all rest and stop time.

Q: Are e-bikes allowed?
A: No.

🧭 What is self-supported ultra-distance racing?

Q: What does “self-supported” mean?
A: In self-supported racing, riders complete the entire route without external assistance such as private support cars or friends handing over supplies. You carry your own gear, fix your own bike, and handle your food, water, and logistics independently using services available to all.

Q: Can I have a support car or meet friends along the way?
A: No. Outside assistance from friends, family, or a personal support crew is not allowed. Everyone faces the same challenge — relying only on themselves and what’s publicly accessible.

Q: Can I ride and draft with others?
A: Yes! At Nordic Chase, drafting is allowed, and we encourage riders to team up along the route. This fosters a more social atmosphere, helps with pacing, and brings people together — just like a shared adventure should. Whether you're riding solo or find others to match your rhythm, you're still responsible for managing your own logistics.

Q: What about safety and emergencies?
A: Riders are fully responsible for their own safety. Carry front/rear lights, basic tools, a power bank, and emergency contacts. In case of serious issues, always prioritize your well-being and seek local help or withdraw if needed.

Q: Is it a race or a ride?
A: It's both. Some push for fast finish times, others take their time and enjoy the journey.
